In Shatterdawn Vortex, the eye is pulled straight into a blazing centre of light, ringed by fractured bands of white, gold, crimson, and deep Atlantic blue. The surface feels as if it has been spun, shattered, and reassembled, with arcs of colour and fine flecks of paint mapping invisible trajectories across the canvas. Each concentric ring seems to tilt and slide against the next, suggesting motion even when the room is still.
The title hints at a moment when one age breaks and another begins—a dawn that doesn’t simply rise over the horizon but bursts through the structure of time itself. The outer darkness holds its ground, yet the central light widens, sending cracks of colour and energy outwards. For some viewers it reads as a star being born, for others a symbolic map of history, cycles, and providence: a reminder that even when things appear chaotic, there is a centre that holds.
On the wall this piece works as a powerful focal point, particularly in its larger sizes.
