A forest of dark trunks becomes a corridor of light in Lantern Festival. Dozens of suspended lanterns hover between ground and canopy, their warm amber glow cutting through the cool greys and deep greens of the trees. The scene holds that quiet threshold between celebration and contemplation — a gathering of people walking together beneath a roof of soft light, each silhouette anonymous, yet clearly part of the same shared moment.
Figures move along the lower edge of the painting in a slow procession: some alone, some in pairs, some pausing as if mid-conversation. The lanterns above them feel both decorative and symbolic — fragments of memory, small shelters against the dark, or private hopes carried into the night. Nothing is over-defined; the narrative stays open, inviting each viewer to decide whether this is a festival, a farewell, or simply a rare evening where strangers briefly become a community.
Stylistically, the work sits in an abstract-figurative space. Expressive brushstrokes carve vertical bands of trunk and foliage, while the lanterns resolve into crisp, luminous rectangles of paint.
